Program Details
The Oil and Gas Technical Apprentice Program (OGTAP), managed by OPITO and the ECITB, is considered one of the most successful apprenticeship schemes in the industry. Since its establishment in 1999, OGTAP has maintained a reputation for producing skilled and motivated technicians for the oil and gas sector.
OGTAP apprentices receive internationally recognized qualifications through college-based learning and practical training from sponsoring companies.
Eligibility Criteria for OGTAP 2025
To qualify for the Oil and Gas Technical Apprentice Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1.National Identity Number (NIN):
- Applicants must have a valid NIN before applying.
- NIMC verification charges apply.
- Multiple applications will result in automatic disqualification.
2.Age Requirement:
- Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years old by May of the application year.
3.Educational Qualifications:
- Applicants must have credit passes (Grade C or higher) in the following O’Level subjects (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NBAIS, GCE, or internal exams):
- Mathematics
- English
- Physics
- Chemistry
- One other relevant subject
4.Higher Qualifications Considered:
- Diploma (OND & others)
- Higher National Diploma (HND, NCE & others)
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSc/BEng & others)
- Postgraduate Degrees (PGD, MSc, PhD & others)
